The new generation of home buyers are ready to settle down, and here’s what they want:
1. Man Caves.
Also referred to as a “media room” — these babies emerged in real estate marketing a few years back, with high-tech gadgets and surround sound, large screen TV’s and state-of-the-art A/V equipment.
2. Home Offices.
If you want to sell your home fast, make sure to have one of these. All those emerging entrepreneurs out there are getting ready to settle in and buy. A home office is a necessity.
3. Hardwood Floors.
Hardwood floors was something that was common in the mid-20th century, until mass carpeting took over in the 70s and 80s. (Bright orange shag carpeting never did anyone any good. Okay…maybe some.) Hardwood flooring gives the space a new, clean, rustic feeling. There’s just something about carpeting that is turning off the home buyers of today.
4. Walk-in Closets.
These are a must-have on many wish lists. (Maybe because of all those Sex and the City episodes?) These days, many homeowners will renovate their 4-bedroom space to a 3-bedroom by converting one room into a massive walk-in closet.
5. Fancy Amenities.
Location, location, location. Home buyers of today want everything at their fingertips — from a full-service gym, to an in-house business centre or spa. They also want to be where the action is, near cheap grocery stores and transit systems.
